Originally from Portland Maine, Ned was a student at Waynflete School in Portland Maine from 1992 – 2008.  During his time at Waynflete Ned was interested and active in many different extracurricular activities including: Soccer, Lacrosse, A’Cappella Groups, Chorus’, as well as many different roles in the Theatre Department.  For his role on the sports fields he was lucky enough to be a 2006 Honorable Mention and a 2007 Acceptee to the Soccer All-Conference Team, as well as a 2007 Acceptee to the Lacrosse All-Conference Team.  His senior lacrosse season was cut unfortunately short as he sustained a season ending ACL Tear in his right knee.

Ned is a founding member of the Waynflete Men’s A’Cappella Group “Three Rights Make A Left” in 2004.

Their videos can be seen on Youtube.com.  He also lead the Waynflete Mixed A’Cappella Group from 2005-2008.  He was also an active participant in the Waynflete Chorus, which helped him attend the Maine All State Chorus all four years of high school, as well as send him to the MENC All Eastern Festival in Hartford Connecticut during the spring of his junior year.  Over time, however, Ned began to realize that his real passion in life is Musical Theatre.  As such, he began performing in many shows both at Waynflete and at various other theatres around southern maine.

The Last Five Years

His first theatre role was in the sixth grade when he was cast as a newsboy in the Lyric Music Theater‘s production of Gypsy.  After this Ned took a theatre hiatus, and was not cast again in a stage performance until spring of his 8th grade year when he was in Waynflete School’s student written 8th Grade Musical.  Throughout high school Ned performed in many different roles at many different venues throughout southern maine.  At Waynflete Ned was featured in: An Inspector Answers (Freddy) – 2005, Anything Goes (Moonface Martin) – 2006, The Philadelphia Story (Sandy Lord) – 2007, Once On This Island (Daniel) – 2008, and The Curious Savage (Dr. Emmet) – 2008.  His Senior year in high school, Ned was lucky enough to be given permission to direct and co-star in Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years as well as design the lights and set.  From 2005 – 2007 Ned was a featured performer in the Anthony’s Italian Kitchen “Wonderful World of Broadway” cabaret dinner theater show.  There he worked as a singing waiter on friday and saturday nights which is where he truly discovered his love for Musical Theatre.  In Maine, Ned worked with many theaters such as: Lyric Music Theater (2001, 2006), The Portland Players (2007), Good Theater (2007), and Hackmatack Playhouse (2007) where he was cast as Dean Hyde in the New England Regional Premiere of All Shook Up.  He began taking Staged Combat lessons in December of 2006 through the Maine Academy of Staged Combat where he has had training in various styles such as: Hand to Hand, Broadsword, Rapier, Quarterstaff,  as well as having taken a course in stunts.  He has been fortunate enough to work with people and organizations such as: Edward Reichert (University of Southern Maine), Rhonda Carlson (University of Southern Maine), Mark Bedell (Maine Academy of Staged Combat), Charles Abbot (Maine State Music Theatre, Walnut Street Theater), Brian Allen (The Good Theater), Ellen Domingos (Professional Performer), and many more!

Ned Gets Kicked

In 2008, Ned was accepted to Ithaca College‘s BFA Musical Theatre training program.  Ned finished his freshman year at Ithaca College, and will be continuing as a Musical Theatre sophomore in the fall.  In the spring semester of his freshman year, Ned was cast as the understudy to the Minister in the Ithaca College Mainstage production of A New Brain by William Finn.  Besides A New Brain, he was worked on many shows at IC both musicals and straight plays alike as an actor and as fight choreographer, including: Children of Eden, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog, Much Ado About Nothing, How I Learned to Drive, and Generation Graffiti.  He also has worked professionally in the summers, working for theaters such as the Maine State Music Theater (Snail in A Year with Frog and Toad), Ithaca Shakespeare Company (Macduff in Macbeth), and more!  See the link on this page to see Ned’s full theatrical resume.  Professionally Ned is also a trained and experienced bartender/waiter.  He has worked for establishments such as The Small Point ClubCelebrations Banquet Facility & Catering, Serendipity Catering Company, and The Dogfish Company.
